What is the Magic e Spin Game?

The Magic e Spin Game is an interactive word-building game that helps children hear and see exactly what happens when a silent e lands on the end of a word.

Four reels — Onset, Vowel, Final Consonant and Magic E — spin independently, so children can build a word one sound at a time and then toggle the Magic E reel on or off to compare the short and long vowel versions side by side.

Thirteen ways to practise

Six Compare modes spin matched pairs like rat/rate, tap/tape and man/mane, so children can hear the vowel sound change with nothing else about the word altered. Seven Practice modes focus on one long vowel family at a time — including blend versions such as bride and flute — for children who are ready to move beyond single-consonant onsets. A Free Play mode lets children explore freely once they've got the hang of it.
